**OT** Micron

It is interesting that one of the first moves that Micron's new CEO Kirschner (sp?) announced was that they were no longer going to compete in the large corporate space.....(Although I'm sure they will return at some point) what does this tell you about the barriers to entry in competing against Dell and the other big boys...

To the best of my knowledge, Micron has almost no international presence....I think that, to become a serious player, they will need to build this at some point, and, as time marches on, this will become harder and more risky, not easier....

You are right, Dell is the model to emulate and follow at this point...the sooner, the better...

Most of all, I think Micron would be well-served to focus (like Dell has) on the markets in which they can win or be a player in the immediately future in order to build share, and their balance sheet (especially cash)....It will take a lot of cash to become a big boy (and make it overseas)....It appears that they are trying to focus on the right problems at this time..Micron (certainly) short-term can not play in all segments....Long-term, given the massive consolidation in the industry, I wonder if a small, niche provider can survive....Micron may not have the capability of becoming big enough to remain in the industry (long-term)....

Could be an interesting investment, haven't done my research though, so I really can't intelligently comment...good luck..
