Steve--You bring up some good targets.
Technically speaking they do not fit the criteria Bill has for his 'Profits of Doom'. The companies you mentioned as a rule are in trouble and overvalued.
Using IBM as I am most familiar with it as an example, Big Blue is not a scam in anyway. They may go down in value but they have significant resources and were the price to dip enough I would evaluate them as a long. Bill is looking for frauds, hype jobs, and massive over valuation. Roger's Shorts Thread is probably the ideal forum for your targets.
Still none of us here are adverse to making money and your targets are worth looking at (I believe BGG has been mentioned here).
