Have you checked with all your trading software vendors. You are missing one specific point with the NAT products. They are transparent but must support your application. Wingate generally offers more flexibility if your program vendor can tell you whether the apps uses tcp, udp, or both and what IP ports are used for each type. You can then custom configure wingate to handle these applications. Only one app I know of Quake will not work through socks or proxy due to the way it utilizies a broadrange of UDP ports for downstream data from the server. I noticed that one of the NAT servers does support this. I would be concerned that your trading software is supported by a NAT application or understanding how to setup that application for socks/proxy usage. I have seen many manufacturers who will not divulge the nature of their use of tcpip which makes either solution unlikely to work. NOTE: one key advantage of having a PC based software solution versus dedicated router is that the machine that is the proxy is directly connected to the net and doesn't have to use proxy. This is certainly true with wingate, I can't comment for the NAT software. I would imagine so.

Note: I was just looking at Sygates web page and they indeed only support limited apps and some of them not fully. I noticed ICQ and MsNetmeeting, only have partial support. These programs work well with wingate using the socks v5 protocol. Seems their software has limited support for UDP applications.
