The point being what? That people of such uncommon ignorance are more than
likely going to end up, or are already on America's burgeoning welfare roles? If so,

The point is that many Americans do not really understand the underpinnings of this country, in the sense of what freedoms it does offer. Of course, I would have to include in this group everyone who believes that it should be illegal to express First Amendment freedom of speech rights by conscientiously refusing to salute our flag.

I thought conservatives wanted fewer laws, but it seems like they really want more sometimes, and the periodic attempts to get an amendment passed forbidding desecration of the flag would be an example of that. It definitely erodes freedom of speech rights.

Incidentally, there are no burgeoning welfare rolls. People are coming off welfare and into the world of work in encouraging numbers. What is your point here?
