Aurum, Bread and circuses will eventually erode the system. Can you imagine they have no secret ballot in Congress and the Senate in the USA. Anyone at all can see how they vote and thus can bring pressure on them. Can you imagine the uproar if peoples votes were revealed? The idea that you want to see how they vote to be sure you can reward/punish them to see if they obey your wishes is overcome by the evil that flows from this. Bribery?, lobbyists?, vote trading? All are bad.
Canadians are worse, no majority vote to get seats. The winners often get in with 15-20% of the registered vote when 50% only vote. So we get well organised liberal and communist groups dominating and we now have a national debt in Canada that is 50% larger per capita than the USA one andwe have a lower average GNP to support it. Canada is doomed to decline unless they cut this. The USA at least keeps it at a lower portion of GNP.

The Australians with compulsory voting have a good idea.
