Any telco folks out there have any thoughts on the potential for Portico as a solution to the Local Number Portability (LNP) issue?

Some background...LNP compliance was mandated by the Telco Reform act of '96 so consumers can take their home phone number with them if they select a new local exchange carrier. Companies like Evolving Systems offer expensive software solutions to the telcos so they can be compliant.

Once every man, woman, and child on the planet has their very own Portico number (heh heh heh) home telephone numbers become transparent to the caller, and really only need to exist for billing purposes. You switch to a new LEC, your home phone changes, you update your Portico prefs, and you're all set!!

Thoughts?

Saatchi & Saatchi!!! ÿÿNice big worldwide agency; terms not disclosed; Markman's gonna be very careful how he spends our money.ÿ I like this. ÿ Can anyone get a post of Saatchi's SFX accounts? ÿMight be illuminating.

This is great. They hired a very good, albeit expensive, ad agency. This shows they are serious about building their brand.

Although I'd like to see GMGC move faster, I really commend how patient they are in building their growth. Ad plans are for regional to start in Q4 and national in Q1. That tells me they feel very comfortable with the demand for Q3 & Q4. I suspect they have another NOC online in Q4 to support the national rollout in Q1. Q3 promotional plan will most likely focus on PR & reseller programs.

Another thought, since they are focusing on building the magicTalk(tm) brand instead of Portico, I'd have to guess that some of the major carriers might not be calling the service Portico. And/or they have more plans for integrating magicTalk into ???
