Hi Wai - I use the Whisper No. as a measure of market expectation and investor psychology. What $0.66 whisper tells me is if SUNW meets or beats the consensus the stock should ralley.

As pointed out by others on this thread, SUNW is one of the best value investments for a play on the Internet sector. Here is an article that shows that SUNW is active in this area.

Sun Microsystems Wins CIO Web Business 50/50 Award

PALO ALTO, CALIF. (July 6) BUSINESS WIRE -July 6, 1998--Sun Microsystems, Inc. has been named one of the top 50 intranet sites in the second annual CIO Web Business 50/50 Awards.

This award program recognizes innovative Internet and intranet initiatives by organizations around the world.

The SunWeb(TM) intranet site provides employees with a comprehensive means of learning more about the company. First implemented in 1994,
the SunWeb site simplifies access to the millions of HTML pages on
Sun's intranet. A powerful search engine indexes content in all 5 million online documents including Postscript and PDF files.

The award's judging process involved a lengthy deliberation by a panel of CIO magazine editors, designers, and Web development experts who evaluated business value delivered by nominated sites. The judges
specifically focused on integration of design, technical attributes of
the site, contribution to the overall business and the success by which the blend of technology and design matched the needs of the site's target audience.

"Fifty sites in each of the two categories emerged as standards of excellence worthy of emulation by the next generation of Web developers, " says CIO Editorial Director Lew McCreary, who oversees the judging process for the program each year.

Sun's intranet site is designed to provide a thorough presentation of more than 5 million pages that inform Sun employees of consistent and
timely information and news important to their jobs.

"SunWeb includes a comprehensive alphabetical index for everything from PR documents to health care forms to network statistical reports, so it is critical that we have our messages conveyed in a clear and logical format," said Debra Winters, Manager Web Technology Integration of Sun Microsystems. "To garner the CIO 50/50 Award indicates that our site has achieved its goal."

The Web is irrevocably transforming the terms and conditions of business. CIO honors the one-hundred top pioneering sites -- those that are setting the benchmarks for a constantly moving target. Complete coverage of the 1998 CIO Web Business 50/50 Awards is featured in the July 1st issue of CIO and at www.cio.com. Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Since its inception in 1982, a singular vision, "The Network Is The Computer(TM)," has propelled Sun Microsystems, Inc., (NASDAQ:SUNW), to
its position as a leading provider of high-quality hardware, software
and services for establishing enterprise-wide intranets and expanding
the power of the Internet.

With more than $9 billion in annual revenues, Sun can be found in more
than 150 countries and on the World Wide Web at sun.com.

Did you know that SUNW is developing an online store for buying and configuring a new system? I do not think they are really trying to compete with Dell's build to order model, but if the business is there, they are well positioned to capitalize on this business.

I believe Sunw will beat the whisper No. but more importantly IMO SUNW is laying the foundation for continued growth through 2002. This is where the real value is not these quarter to quarter swings due to economic events that SUNW has no control over.

If you are trying to invest for double digit gains each quarter, it is not going to happen with this stock. If you are looking for an annualized double digit gain over several years, SUNW IMO is an excellent low risk INVESTMENT that should meet these growth objectives.
