re Y2K meltdown???

Jim,

... The cognoscenti believe that there WILL NOT be a meltdown. The illuminati also believe this to be the case. ... However, given the number of gullible people out there, stock prices are likely to be lower on Dec 31 than they will be thereafter.

How true! And we know that every bear in the zoo will be doing his utmost to increase the fear.

IMO companies which are prepared will do very nicely, though they may also suffer a short-term price dip. Those which are not prepared, and cause their customers or clients hardship will almost certainly fare very badly indeed. It would certainly be prudent to send a personal letter to the management of any company in which you are invested asking them to state specifically their Y2K preparation status. If you are not totally satisfied with the answer, eliminate that stock from your portfolio.

regards, 3.
