He'll have to wait a few years to play Lear himself. Didn't Gielgud play Lear back when Masterpiece Theatre was doing all of Shakespeare? Whoever was in that Lear, I seem to recall I liked him very much. I love Ran- that is a great Lear.

Maybe it wasn't Masterpiece Theatre (was it called the Shakespeare project?)- but I remember public TV doing all the plays, including some I had never seen performed like Titus Andronicus. Now there is a play (Titus) that would appeal to young people, especially all those young boys raised on Mortal Kombat. Why force them to study Romeo and Juliet when with Titus they could see the Mortal Kombat of another time? I found it fascinating.
