<<What's the reasoning behind a former resistance level
becoming a support level after the resistance level
has been broken?>>

In addition to those that do it just because of T/A, the reasoning is that those who sold out too early at the former resistance level will buy back in given the opportunity to get in close to their sales prices. Also those who hesitated on buying in before the price went way up are also getting a second chance and are likely to buy at the former resistance level.

I'm glad you are becomming interested in some T/A. I think you would be shorting yourself if you didn't use it to some degree. The simpler the better--and support and resistance and trading with the trend is the simplest--and the most effective.
