John - India in a crunch for programmers is true, not because they do not have people. More opportunities in other areas have opened up. The y2k bug fixing, I am told, is uninteresting, in spite of the $. Waiting for Gingrich to pass the bill on liability. Ram

Vajpayee, has set up a four-member ministerial committee to examine the recommendations of the National Task Force on Information Technology and Software, which submitted its report to him on July 4. The ministerial panel, consisting of the Finance Minister, Mr. Yashwant Sinha, the Communications and Information and Broadcasting Minister, Ms. Sushma Swaraj, the Human Resource Development Minister, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, and the Defence Minister, Mr. George Fernandes, has been asked to submit its report within 10 days. This was announced by Prof. M.G.K. Menon, co-chairperson of the task force, and three of its members - Mr. Sudheendra Kulkarni, Director (Communications and Research) at the Prime Ministers' Office, Dr. N. Seshagiri, Director-General, National Informatics Centre, and Mr. Dewang Mehta, Executive Director, National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM). Dr. Seshagiri was also the member-convenor of the task force. <<<<
