(COMTEX) B: LACIE: LaCie announces new internal mobile Zip for the IB
B: LACIE: LaCie announces new internal mobile Zip for the IBM ThinkPad 770
Series

JUL 6, 1998, M2 Communications - Following a new alliance with VST
Technologies, LaCie today announced its new range of mobile computing
solutions. The latest product to ship in the range is the LaCie mobile
Zip for the IBM ThinkPad 770 Series.

The LaCie mobile Zip is a unique option for IBM ThinkPad users. The
removable drive enables users to utilise all the functionality and
flexibility of a Zip drive in the Ultra bay of the IBM ThinkPad. Now
users can enjoy a high capacity, high performance storage solution for
multimedia files, Internet downloads, business presentations and data
backup., The drive is fully compatible with standard Iomega 100MB Zip
disks and ships with Iomega tools on the first Zip cartridge.

Easy to install, the plug-n-play drive takes the place of the CD-ROM
drive. The drive simply clicks into place when required. It is seen as
part of their user- interface, so it behaves just like the floppy
drive.

Henri Joseph Rohrlich, Product Manager for LaCie's new mobile
computing division commented, "we are dedicated to finding innovative
and powerful mobile solutions that reflect LaCie's values of
reliability and quality. The mobile Zip drive, developed by VST
Technologies, is an ideal solution, and LaCie has won exclusive
added-value distribution rights in Europe".

LaCie adds genuine value by delivering it as a complete solution to
UK specification, with manual. In addition the complete mobile storage
solution is covered by a comprehensive LaCie warranty, together with UK
support and maintenance through its network of accredited resellers.

Further product launches from LaCie's mobile computing division will
be announced throughout the year.

>>I'm long on IOM as well, but the Norton Zip rescue feature doesn't work with my Adaptec SCSI card. Very frustrating.<<

Jude -

Norton Zip rescue WILL work with your Adaptec SCSI card, but it does take a bit of user intervention. You have to find the DOS SCSI drivers for the adaptec card, and put them on the boot floppy. You will also have to edit the config.sys file on the boot floppy, to make it load the SCSI driver.

I have a SCSI only system using an adaptec card, and Zip Rescue now works fine for me.

If you need more details about this, just e-mail me.
