More good news today on CNBC. The airline analyst for Sol-Smith-Barney identified LUV as the single best airline stock to buy. As we all know, analysts are frequently wrong, but, in this case, IMHO, the SSB guy is right on target.

Good news, John. I'm looking for an exit point, and maybe LUV has another three or four points upside in the short term, before earnings are released. In the long term, 12 to 18 months, I would look for the mid 50s. My opinion.

John,

Don't know how quickly you need your money, but I would look for LUV to hit the $37-40 range before year's end. Judging by past performance, they would split the stock before it ever reached the mid-50s. The highest previous high I remember was somewhere just short of 43, several years ago, followed by a 3 for 2 and a 2 for 1 split.
