Sharp-eyed readers keep us accurate, and I appreciate your comments.
You're right that Applied Materials does little business in Malaysia,
though other companies do. It would have been more accurate if I had
limited my example to Korea. On the other hand, I think you take me to task wrongly for my reference to companies with cash from recent IPOs. I don't put Applied Materials in this category.

As for highs and lows, in the second-half of last year Applied Materials traded as low as 25 1/2 (on December 12). I used the 12-month low, a sloppy error for which I apologize.

The larger issue is the fact that these stocks have fallen since I wrote about them. The fundamentals haven't changed much, which means values are even more appealing--both for traders and longer-term investors.

**OT-UPDATE**

Early this morning, YHOO equaled AMAT in terms of market cap when it hit $207.50. Still scratching my head too.
