W,

I guess Mike Hackworth could be a considered a "founder" of Cirrus Logic in the sense that he was there when the company adopted that name. Cirrus Logic started out as a company based in Utah named Patil Systems. It was founded by Suhas Patil and a few colleagues. It was based on the S/LA design software technology developed by Suhas while at the University of Utah. Patil Systems moved to California in 1984. Hackworth joined Patil Systems in 1985 and began raising venture capital to grow the company. He was involved in renaming the company Cirrus Logic and focusing Suhas' S/LA technology on designing chips for the mass storage market. So Hackworth was very key in the early growth of the company, but in my mind, a founder is one who was there from the very beginning.

Regards,
G.P.
