<<Why? ---- what motive and what exactly did they do to make it ''appear'' they were selling more than the 410,000 shares ?>>

They appeared to be selling more because they talked to so many different people/institutions about moving the block of shares (according to EVI); those people talk to other people to get a feel for whether they can lay off the shares, etc.

As for the why, word given by EVI is that Hydril needed to sell the shares to raise money. If they needed the money badly enough and quickly enough, they probably would go to anyone and everyone.

Unfortunately, the news explaining this came across the wire in the early afternoon, and there was no real recovery in the price, so I'm not anticipating any great move today -- to the upside that is.

Crude is now at 13.85 bid x 13.90 asked.
