There is also some interesting valuations in the consumer electronic licensing biz of some relevance to Ampex....check out the Gemstar buyout bid from United Video.... Confluence of events.....Digital content providers writing the checks finally....CNN using this DST 812 for commercials...CNN wants to digitize their entire library of content ....Ampex is in the door..Oh by the way...CNN owned by Turner Broadcasting owned by Time Warner which also owns Time Magazine et al and Warner Brothers et al. This is a damn good sale Internet Service Providers....good to see NETCOM mentioned as a buyer of Ampex DST...NETCOM has a strong push for a national internet telephony system. Retailers...like Coach Leather..online commerce etc. More acquisitions to come. More royalties to collect re digital camcorders. Looks to me like the service would make good use of the Ampex brand...say..."Digital Video by Ampex". Like sound by Dolby, the customer can be assured of the highest quality and will want to advertise that to its customers.
