I think it is nuts to say that Diamond is going with the S3 chip as if it chose it over another chip. The fact is that all board makers are going to provide the market with as many options as it can it order to maximize revenues. Banshee appears to have the S3 and other chips beaten hands down: it is much better in both 3D and 2D and supports all the protocols that people want and need. There is room in the marketplace for many chips, but only a couple are going to really succeed. Banshee and its successors look to be winners. Maybe S3 has a chance of getting some of the remains.
