Don't take it too seriously. I could certainly be a participant in that thread. I'm a realist too. The name of the thread just caught me as funny

I have been a long time lurker on this site and other CIS vendor sites.

It would be interesting to know if the privately held vendors are what's possibly impacting some of these 1st tier CIS vendors. Onyx, Pivotal, SalesLogix in the C/S space and Smart, Upshot, Silknet etc. in the web CIS space. For example, Microsoft recently announced deployment of Silknet for their entire sales force.

Wiseowl, I think your idea is good. But an even better thread might be one that addresses how to prevent yourself from getting into the situation in the first place. Then your first thread would be unnecessary. Wouldn't that be nice!!

Right now if I had recently purchased vntv and I really wanted to hold on I'd just write covered calls and try to reduce my cost basis. Granted, you can sit around hoping for an acquisition but there's no guarantee on that one. If you want to speculate on that buy some really cheap calls also. No one can know what the stock will do but I don't think I'd sit around waiting for it go to back up short term.
