Looks like LT may be right again... though it remains to be seen if NKE will make him money on the short side. I thought surely that this sector would be rising by this week, but I've gotten confirmed buy signals only on FGII, SCSWF, VTS, and CRLBF. The rest are still in limboland, and even the confirmed buys are falling like flies.

I got burned badly in the CTYS caper which you mention. I must say, it was the best sale I ever made (after losing 40% because I trusted the company's comments and the 5 analysts who had strong buys on it). The stock dropped almost 99% even after I sold.

Morning everyone. Can't say it is a "good" morning, but I guess if we woke up alive it can't be too bad. Better than waking up dead, right?

Hey, I just had a long pleasant conversation with Mavis from thestreet.com. Very nice gal, she doesn't even have a New York accent. She recently did a tour of the Gulf coast and visited some of the companies and even went offshore to a rig. I am glad to see an industry writer learning the ropes out where the action is. Maybe next time she will stop and see me and I can buy her a Sasparilla.

Drum roll please...

The URL for the neat-o web site that will track the stock picks of the Offshore Drilling Bits newsletter is...

jump.to./offshore

The portfolio was bought this morning and has ten stocks.

Many thanks and full credit goes to JZGALT for the web site idea and for putting it all together! He did a great job.

<<next moves are ones I hope I'll never have to make --- final buys will be : EVI @ $29, FGII @ $24, CDG @ $25, maybe RIG $38-9 and I'll be done.>>

Unfortunately, I think the question is "when" not "whether." And the answer is "it shouldn't be long now." I think we have a new candidate for all-time worst day in this sector. Again, the shorts have no fear -- no attempt to cover. I guess they are figuring the API numbers will be bad and the sector will open down. On the bright side, perhaps some of them will take some profits after the initial drop.
