Re: "Pardon my rambling, but I have a load of pent up angst about INTC."

(IMO) When the insiders (AG, CB etc) start buying should be a good indication the future is once again solid for them.

I have been long and accumulating INTC for a lot of years. It has been very, very good to me. I am beginning to wonder if I have blinders on, however. Perhaps the dynamics of the CMPQ/DEC merger are more influential on INTC than I realized. Perhaps AMD will continue to eat away at INTC's market share.

Yeah its quite a dilemma on whether to buy or sell Intel. I've read quite a few good posts that support both views. I tend to agree more with the longs, however. I bought INTC recently on the lows and I plan to hold at least until I hear the conference calls from AMD and Intel. AMD and NSM are definitely a concern regarding pricing pressure. If the price erosion abates, then with XEON and the upcoming Merced, Intel should be able to regain its footing.

I think I will stay long on INTC for a few more quarters. I gotta believe that MERCED will create new markets for INTC, with XEON as the missionary product in this new upscale market. I dumped SUNW a few months back because of this line of thinking. (logical conclusion: SUNW loses UNIX marketshare; INTC gains that share.)

Yeah, I would agree. SUNW seems to be in a tough battle. They are part of what Gates & Co. call noise.

Netscape, Oracle, IBM, Sun, and Everyone else.
