Burt,
A well writen analysis.
We differ on a couple of points. You suggest 1.8 million chips in the 2nd quarter. We'll see but I wouldn't be surprised to see >2.5 million.
Why isn't .25 really humming along? It is but yields can still improve greatly...they are good but not excellent. Yes, there is something very funny/strange about AMDs yields...
Yes, IBM can ride to the rescue but like you said it won't help AMD as much as it will IBMs bottom line. Case in point, Cyrix.
You are very perceptive. Even though AMD will likely lose money in the 2nd quarter an upside surprise in the volume of chips will likely send the stock upward...
Regards, Jim

Burt - Re: " if perchance there is an upside surprise on chip volume AND earnings for the prior quarter,..."

And how could Jerry the Salesman keep this such a well-guarded secret?

By the way, AMD reports tomorrow - July 8, after the market closes.

I'm sure Jerry will have an excellent story to captivate the analysts and investors.

He always does.
