I've studied the EMU up and down and I just get nothing from it. I think it's a non-event. I keep getting this feeling that it will be like the UN. Each member nation will give it lip service, but none are going to compromise their economic sovereignty to comply with its direction. If they were to do that, it would go against everything that has occurred in Europe in the last 1,000 years. French, British, and Germans, trusting each other? Maybe it will just be a European means of non-dollar currency settlements.
