Francis,

Bob Pisani, on CNBC just now, said the SOX rally was caused by a H&Q analyst's comment that he thought that Altara (? spelling) the PLD maker would come in at expectations. He didn't raise or lower his estimates, or mention any other semi-companies. The sector just caught fire and ran up.
