Look further out to 2000-2001. You can sell these at any time, and they're much more resistant to the ups-and-downs. Unfortunately, they're more expensive, too. However, if you play the split potential, you don't have to buy as many, either.

I have call options positions in Jan 2000 and Jan 2001, only. You can make money trading in the shorter term, but you also have to include Uncle Sam as your partner to the tune of 39% (or your rate). I cut him in for ~20%, and I have all of the gain and share leverage between now and then.
