No it was the ALtera news(meet or beat) that moved all the semis according to CNBC. It was just news that should have been positive for the programmable chip market, but desperation moved the whole market. MOT "beating" estimates (whooppee- a whole penny) may continue to move the SOX tomorrow. At least that was my take on the many talking heads commenting on this on CNBC.

No I don't think that's what made Intel Jump. I think there were some good comments come out the semi sector that made it jump. Take a look at:

NSM
AMD
INTC

on a day chart and you will notice a trend! ;-)
