I don't know that people are seeing the Disney DVD announcement for the huge deal that it is... Disney has enormous sales to the home market, and I can speak from experience that every one of the 20+ Disney videos that we've collected over time for my daughters will probably be replaced by a DVD version.

Disney had originally balked at putting their films on DVD, but this could be the hole that finally makes the DVD damn burst wide open. When Disney stores start selling DVD releases of Mulan, or the new Lion King movie, or Armaggedon, everyone will want/need a DVD player.
