it is definitely >>unethical, and less than nice<< I'm not an attorney, though I do play one from time to time (honestly -- writing some legal documents from time to time). If I were you I would look into it very carefully, unless you have another job first.

Geoff, there is no doubt that the co. acted like slimers. Whether or not it was illegal depends upon whether the offer was in writing and if there were any conditions (sales levels, eps, hits, etc) placed upon the offer. It definitely sounds unethical and if you were unionized, I am sure The National Labor Relations Board would be all over your offices taking depositions. But nobody online is unionized, so I don't know what you can do. I do know one thing: I would be very leery in my dealings with them and always keep your ear to the ground for jobs with more honest firms. Whenever you have a pay day, count your money and your fingers. They might not give you your money, but they sound like they'll be happy to give you the finger. MB
