Stitch, "OT"

It was not a terribly deep chute, and I was able to crawl off to one side. I had been carried off course by the slide, and had to bushwack through a lot of alders on the lower slopes. My pack and gun were cached on the valley floor, but luckily I met no bears in the darkening twilight. After I picked up my gear I hiked down to a smaller lake to camp for the night. I was on that wild, lonely, God-forsaken mountain for eleven hours, and I still shake in my boots when I think about it.

Here's a bear story for you... A friend of mine was fishing alone up on Montana Creek one day when he heard crashing noises in the nearby brush. A cow moose and her calf burst out a dozen feet away from him, with a big ol' griz in hot pursuit. The bear grabbed the calf in its jaws and gave it a mighty shake, then turned and ran back into the brush with it. Now that's what I call scary!

Regards,
Greg
