Turned out ONE analyst said ALtera was going to meet or beat- that's it- told his office right around the time all the semi stocks started popping. According to the commentary on CNBC this should really only affect the programmable logic companies (Lattice was mentioned) but ALL the semi companies popped. It was said on CNBC that there was just so much desperation in the sector they were willing to jump on anything. So probably just a short term rally- like Jim suggested.

Now I don't see why some of that internet money couldn't rotate into the semi stocks- as the net stocks are probably beginning their descent. But I wouldn't think the rotation will last long. And if gold moves up more, oil should follow it. They usually move together, with a bit of a lag between the two. If Bill's BK is on time that should come just in time to kill the semis little rally.

IT could have been the hair that pulled the trigger, but the cause
is that they have been looking for any excuse to go up. <G>

It's not the money so much just think of the humiliation of being
of having to sit in the dunces corner while the internet stocks
are swooned over. Man this gang is ready to kickass, they just
need an excuse.
