Superman,

The street was calling for .65, our guys were calling for .71 based on the tax thing. I think some of their recent aquisitions had large tax losses accumulated.

I think I am going to sell into what I expect will be a quick spike up and hopefully cover on the settle back when they get to the part you did.

<<"It should be noted however that some of the circumstances and activities that>>

That word "however" could speak volumes. <ggg>

They say 3Rd Quarter is always the strongest since this is when all the maintenance contracts kick in. I haven't seen the official report but I am interested to see how much cash they have for the next big buy they plan to do. This is why I like them even though rev. is down from 3rd quarter. Their track record proves they can increase rev. and profits by buyouts.

1) anybody who follows geac closely knows that the third qtr is always their big one. december falls in their 3rd qtr, and they get a lot of "year end", "spend the budget" sales in that qtr. so this was expected.

i was impressed that revenues were up 20% from the same qtr last year with no major acquisitions during the year. a knock on geac has been that all it's growth has come from acquisitions, but it now appears that its generating some internal growth.

2) geac's comments raised a few flags - nothing is ever simple. i can't confirm or deny the 14% and 31% tax rates you suggested, but i'm going to look into it! i doubt that tax benefits added $.10 to eps!

i have a couple of questions for you.

how do you feel about geac's cash balance's and the prospects for future acquisitions?

are you long geac?
