re:Rumors again have AMD releasing the K7 in the 4th Q.

i thought there was going to be a K6-3 late in the year???
i seriously doubt that the K7 (with Alpha bus) will be anyway near ready this year... unless AMD finds a suitor, i don't think there will ever be a K7 period!! Poor, undereducated Jerry Sanders should have taken a strategy 101 class before becoming CEO. He has no clue what he is doing.

Robert - Re: "One question are you still holding any AMD stock? "

Interesting question!

I got out of AMD last year between $30 and $33.

Last week I bought some more at $17 1/8 - just as a lark.

So, I am once again an AMD stockholder.

Frankly, I'm tempted to unload today and accept a small profit. You never know what news AMD will come up with in a few hours.

Robert - Re: "once the K7 speculation starts it could very easily
lead AMD to new highs. Rumors again have AMD releasing the K7 in the 4th Q."

The K7 will be a SLot architecture and will tell everybody - INTEL WAS RIGHT.

The K7 will require a new CHIP SET and motherboards and essentially a whole new infrastructure.

Who is going to build that? Who is going to fund that? Let's face it - today, Compaq and IBM and HP are buying AMD parts BECAUSE THEY ARE CHEAP - NOT STATE OF THE ART.

My guess - The K7 will diverted to a Slot 1 design and AMD will file a suit against Intel to void their existing contracts and allow AMD to use the Slot 1 interface. This will be a risky thing to do - but less risky than a "Lone Ranger" K7 Slot A approach.
