I wonder if the startegy of american, japanese, and taiwanese chip manufacturers is to spend south korea into capitulation (by upgrading their manufacturing and production processes) pretty much like the u.s. did to the ussr during in terms of the defense buildup of the 80's...

any thoughts?

Mason, there have been a number of recent stories about cutbacks and pushouts in Taiwan, some of the megafab players hinting of major slowdowns, and the final demand slowing -- so what makes you think that now is a good time to buy? Wouldn't a better time be to wait until after AMAT announces quarterly earnings in August?
