Ramsey, I may be misunderstanding you, but from my point of view, the DRAM war started in the late 80's when Japan cornered the equipment market and thus the DRAM market. They wouldn't sell DRAM equipment to anyone but Japanese companies, and also wouldn't sell DRAM to anyone but Japanese box-makers.

No-holds-barred scorched-earth war is in progress. The Japanese have just announced that they intend to continue their "market share at any price" philosophy, and MU certainly isn't going to back down. Either or both would be happy happy happy to see total destruction of Korea's chipmaking.
