It sounds to me like you have more than a problem with anti-virus. I don't know more than tech support, but if it were me, I'd plan on a complete start over with WOW.

Dump everything WOW installed, including directories. Then go empty out your recycle bin. Now run scan disk and probably defrag. Clean things up to the max. Then reboot.

Now reinstall your WoW programs, following the instructions closely. If your problems persist after that, you're in for some lengthy sessions with tech support. Ask for Barbara, I've spoken to her a few times in the past and she knows this program well.

Update your display driver to the current version. I would have the anti-virus software as a reason way down on my list. In the past, the "virus" explanation is what customer service reps tend to use for anything they do not understand and have problems diagnosing. In my career in the computer field, I have run across maybe two viruses, one I came across personally, and another impacting a department of an employer I used to work for due to their neglegence involved in copying their software for customer use. Now it is the anti-virus software explaination. What is next?

What operating system and version are you running? Have you had problems with the Internet browser aborting on you? Have you had problems with the OS or other applications before this time? How about when many applications are up and running together?

Aside from what has been said from a "ground up" reinstall of the software, I have the following to offer:

Sometimes the offending software may be a poorly written device driver or other systems level software which can act up. So make sure you are up to date on your software, particularly where drivers are concerned. Also it would help to see that any operating system patches have been applied.

Check to see the available memory and swap disk space you have available. If disk space for swap area goes down below 100M, Win95 tends to be flaky. I am assuming Win95 here.
