Terrence, Los Angeles should never have been developed. With the inverted basin, it was an ecological disaster waiting to happen. Besides that, all the new people ruined a lovely desert paradise.

San Francisco, on the other hand, has not really had any population growth in a century or so, and the air is blue, with fluffy white clouds drifting by. It is unfortunate that the suburbs are filling up, though, and causing traffic jams and the loss of farm lands. In fact, there was an article in our paper the other day, where some expert declared we would just have to give up the farm lands for housing. Okay, great, but how are all the people going to eat? Our central valley was the salad bowl of America, and a huge proportion of the nation's food is grown there. Unclear on the concept, or something!

If we are going to provide medical care for everyone, then I would agree that there should be huge public health campaigns so that people have as much knowledge as possible about preventative health care. And did you know that some companies are refusing to hire smokers, even though they do not smoke at work? People are becoming more sensitive to the sheer smell of smoke, and just don't want to be around people who have it in their hair and clothes.

Actually, the choice is usually between Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dummer. <g>
