John,

Thank you for your efforts regarding the bug. If not fully appreciated now, someday it will be.

Question for Canadians: Does anyone know of a condensed refresher course for ex-programmers (as in been out of the business for a decade) in Canada geared toward shovelling new workers into the Y2K hole? Or if not the names of specific courses and/or institutions, a suggestion on how to look further?

thanks,
ghunk

'When You Lose Old Code for Lost Languages

Comment:
This posting on de Jager's Forum points to a serious problem: recovering lost source code. COBOL is common; PL/I isn't. But there is PL/I code out there. How can a programmer deal with it?

If you have the missing information, let him know.

Subject: Re: Source Regenerators: Missing Source - PL/I

Chas:

Regarding your question of regenerating source code for PL/I - we're not aware of any product or service that provides this recovery service. The Source Recovery Company recovers COBOL from object modules, and we're occasionally asked about PL/I -- something we don't handle. If there is such a service, we'd also like to hear about it.
