Hank, Hits do nothing for a portal site unless the ad revenue percentage increases. It only slows the server down. Yahoo may have a billion hits a day. They are still advertising only 15% of their site. There are not too many people placing ads, but that will change. Most of the portals are still learning to sell ads. They are getting the consumer companies such as P&G, Smithklien beecham etc. to put their money in placing ads. Their sales force is ill trained, but they will learn soon, and that will change the number of ads generated pages from 15% to 20%. Every percent increase in the sales of ads increases the sales by nearly 10 million for a 100 million page view / day company.
