Wed 8 Jul 98 News Release
Mr. Stephen Rosen reports
The company has delivered its MPEG-2 digital audio and data solution to the
Master FM consortium for installation at the CN Tower in Toronto. Master FM
is a consortium of 20 radio stations in the Toronto area, including Rogers
Broadcasting, CHUM Limited and CBC. This is the first commercial
installation for digital audio broadcast (DAB) in Canada, and as such, puts
Unique Broadband Systems at the forefront of this emerging technology on a
global basis.
The company believes that the future of radio is digital and in this
environment of high speed data, DAB is the only solution which will enable
a vehicle moving at high speed to receive 2mbs of information. The totally
addressable configuration will allow a driver to receive email, faxes, text
messages and video images over the radio. Music can be listened to without
fading, static or signal degradation, while delivering CD quality sound.
