Don,

compared to asian companies, american companies are lean and mean and there is relatively good transparency in their financial operations. as far as I can tell asian companies have an awful lot to learn from their american counterparts in those regards. last time I checked every major korean corporation had debt to equity ratios which are out of this world. the street would never tolerate such figures. they have to get their sh.....t together and that won't happen overnight.
just a few ramblings

regards

"U.S. manufacturers are doing well..." 80% of Dell's component and manufacturing cost originates in Asia. Same for the big disk drive makers. Many U.S. manufacturers will benefit, until their Japanese rivals get into the game.

Don,

Thanks for the infor on the Euro automakers, that is very enlightening. I'm wondering a bit about the US numbers too. As they announced numbers reflect sales to dealers, vs. consumers, I wonder if the dealers were re-stocking, or taking on extra inventory?

Regards,
Lee
