I'm tired of any Fool references to Buffet style.

Iomega was an upstart tech company. Clearly it was impossible to derive intrinsic value here in an industry that has become totally commoditized and changes rapidly.

While Amazon's business is easy to understand, it's hard to perceive any "moat" (as Buffet might say) to prevent competitors. Intrinsic value here is very sketchy. This business seems to me one where the price will ultimately approach marginal costs. There are too many titans out there with bigger scale than AMZN. Plus, the need for a middleman may become less.

The bottom line is that there are very few tech stock which a long term investor should buy and hold. Microsoft could be a stock one could buy and hold for a lifetime, it's hard to think of many other tech stocks that fit this profile. Buffet buys businesses which he sees providing superior returns "until judgement day".

The Fools must recognize that AMZN is way overvalued and if they want to be around 5 years from now they'll need to AOL stay up, AMZN to stay solvent, and IOM - I think they're in trouble on this one.

The author of the fool article correctly suggests that all investment decisions should be made instantaneously (in other words, what's the best place to put my money now, regardless of what my basis is on stock X). The rationale that even a 50% drop would still beat the market is a pretty poor reason to hold this stock for the long term.

Joe, don't try to reason about it, lets pump this puppy up regardless of the fundermenials. I'm short on AMZN and want to do more. So why don't the folks, like myself, who think Amazon is inflated beyond logic just give in to the whim that the stock can go up without consideration of that logic stuff. See where I'm coming from?

Amazon is not logical and doesn't need to be! It will soar forever and operational issues and profits don't have to matter. This is the new world of virtual profits and virtual realities.

Go Amazon.com!!! Onward and Upward toward 200!!! (to the tune of Onward Christian (Internet) soldiers).
