Re: "There will be an oversupply of x86 CPU's in Q3. This will mean lower prices, lower margins, and lower profits for everybody."

You appear to be in such an extremely urgent mood to let everyone know how bad things are for Intel next quarter? I find it a bit odd you come out just after such a bad report from AMD. Your timing is odd and your tone is odd. Why not just wait and see what Intel has to say about their third Q.

Sounds like your saying AMD will go crazy and lite them self on fire now that they know they cannot beat Intel at Intel's game, and then throw them self in front of Intel's moving vehicle just to destroy it. Well maybe Intel is prepared for that also just wait and see. Are you related to Kurlak by any chance?

Kash, you are way off. CPU segment is NOT commidity like memory. It is a virtual monopoly. OEMs will only RISK a certain % of their product lines to non-Intel, especially with a company on the brink of total disaster. Also, Intel controls pricing, not AMD. The reason AMD prices their CPUs so low is because they HAVE TO.

I just can't believe how the BOD is letting this clown Sanders still run this company. Although, as an Intel investor, i don't mind. <ggg>

Kash - Re: " There will be an oversupply of x86 CPU's in Q3..."

There is ALREADY an oversupply of x86 chips - the low end from NSM/Cyrix and the low end from AMD - socket 7 CPUs.

There is NOT an oversupply of 350 and 400 MHz Pentium IIs and 400 and 450 Mhz Xeons.

The key for Intel - and one which they hold - is to have the x86 chips THAT ARE NOT IN OVERSUPPLY - ones that ARE NOT MADE BY THE Clones 'R Us crowd.

Thusly, Intel has a good chance (not yet a shoo-in) of maintaining sales and overall margins - by supplying NEW, HIGHER MARGIN Pentium IIs, Mendocinos and XEONS - and Katmais.
