Peter,

With some of the online services are great, I use Omega Research's Supercharts. There are a variety of packages available from different vendors, I just started with their entry level package and upgraded (a trial cd is available in a book called the Visual Investor) from Wall Street Analyst.

I wouldn't trust the software's ability to read candlesticks - just to put them on screen. No substitute for lots af reading and lots of practise.
