Funny, but they've been saying stuff like that for over three years. You've got to admit AMD appears to be tenacious, even if they're poorly managed.
I think AMD has more cash now then they did in Dec. '95. And their outlook was dimmer then. (Even in '95 there were stupid SI posts predicting Intel would buy AMD).
And I think you can make a case they have been working with Compaq for at least that long.
If you remember, Compaq was a major owner of Nexgen. Even used some of their chips. And if I remember correctly, IBM was making the Nexgen chips.
When AMD bought Nexgen, don't you think Compaq may have been heavily involved in that decision? And if AMD helped Compaq bail out of that situation, maybe there are some IOU's, if not Agreements, involved?
IMO, there is a relationship there that is deeper then people think.
Just my opinions.
