e-tailers are not really companies that help one use the internet ...

Analogy: Land's End ships via FedEX, but isn't listed as an air cargo company.

Mark, I meant that the e-tailers are not really companies that help one
use the internet, like the other companies in the internet index:

fast.quote.com

They are not something one goes to every day to either enhance their
browsing experience, or navigate the web, or provide content. They sell
books and CDs. Just because they solely use the internet as their medium,
does not make them "internet companies" in the way that YHOO, LCOS,
SEEK, or AOL are really internet companies. I know the e-tailers are in the
index, but in my mind, they are not the same as the other companies and
will eventually become just another retailer, using the internet instead of
mailed catalogs.<<

You don't think Amzn can not help others work the web. WHAT ABOUT THEIR ASSOCIATES PROGRAM. Their Associates program has been a great success; already over 60,000 web sites, including AOL.com, Yahoo!, Netscape, Excite, the AltaVista Search Service, the @Home Network, the Prodigy Shopping Network, and iVillage, have signed up and are helping Amazon sell its books; without the program these sites could've been niche competitors. I would call that building win win relationships with customers and partners over the web. I bought many books from Amzn and they have help me to quickly find, learn about, and buy almost any book in the English language. They have secure ordering, door-to-door delivery, convenience, selection, and consistently lower prices. But your right Amzn is not in the same "category" as the portals. But this doesn't separate them from being an internet company. IMHO

Public Servant Downgrades Motley Fools from
Mild Boycott
to
STRONG BOYCOTT AND IGNORE WITH A VENGEANCE
based on:
1) Their "It's Mi ai ai ai ine" attitude reminiscent of the child whose--until the Fools exposed theirs--obstinance was relegated and confined to the mental tunnel vision achieved only by the tedious and careful nourishing of severe immaturity, commonly inflicted upon children by weak, selfish parents, thus resulting in a lack of perspective, worldliness, and common sense(are you spoiled rotten children, Fools?);
2) Their seeming disregard for the average person who works, hour by hour, for an hourly wage which is subsequently "invested" according to what information can be gleaned from sources obvious to such persons(high profile, presumed professionals reign large in the minds of investors who, because of minimal experience and exposure, don't have a larger perspective on market mechanisms, jargon, trading patterns, Wall Street slang("Hold"="Sell Your Arse Off if you value your money");
3)Just pure fatigue of people dicussing the Fools as if they had some legitimate right to promote stocks and, without personal financial repercussions, unduly influence listeners in the aggrandized forum they enjoy; discussing their opinions is like having an argument on whether Amazon is at fair value; i.e., ignore all facts.

Enough!!!

Again, Public Servant perpetually, and until they are exposed as what they are in the traditional sense of the word with which they proudly refer to themselves,
Downgrades the Motley Fools
from
Mild Boycott
to
STRONG BOYCOTT AND IGNORE WITH A VENGEANCE

How do they sleep at night? Can you imagine telling a friend of yours to "go long" Amazon? My God! What must they see the real people who are out here working for a living as? Surely not humans... Could you honestly recommend Amazon to someone you care about?

If it sounds like I am angry...it is because I am! Please don't post references to Fool commentary here. It is like contributing to a disinformation service which results in removing large amounts of money from the pockets of innocent investors.

Boycott On!
