Acquisitions, Affiliates etc....

CSCO pays handsomely for its acquisitions which leads
to all acquired employees being happy campers which
in-turn results in great willingness to merge. This
is a great strategy. On the other hand the seed capital
school of thought practised by NN is an excellent
vehicle as well, LU has recently started this through
their venture capital program.

NN faltered on UB acquisition, where the intention of
buying into enterprise networking was right but a
paltry pay-off to employees resulted in mass exodus.
The technology pieces of UB are still with NN so
they might do some integration of that with their
other products.

NN is fundamentally a strong company and definitely
trading at a discount. With the affiliate strategy
they are slowly moving towards the goal of becoming
the LU, NT, or CSCO. One thing is clear NN needs the
backing of a 800lb gorilla like Siemens to continue
beating out rivals while nurturing the affiliates.
Also, an aggressive campaign to raise more capital
for new research & development and to support
affiliates can help towards the goal as well.
