"The idea that money rotating out of internet stocks will sustain a semi rally is absurd...."

It may be absurd, but I believe that this will happen. An eventual flight to quality. This type of rotation has been going on for the entire duration of this bull market. The value players are taking their positions now; when the bottom is established and the stock starts heading skyward in earnest, the momentum boys will pile on.

The market is likely to run into a wall here within 2 to 4 weeks. Not enough fundamentals to support these prices yet, and the last several summers have seen drops between mid July and mid August. I will be taking money off the table soon.

I will be surprised if the equips don't come close to or drop below the recent lows, in the next market pullback. That will be a good chance to pile in.

aki: re: " I think that AMAT will make a loss in the 4th Q of this year.... unless they disguise the loss as a write-off of plant and equip from their $500m expansion."

I'm going to create a verb to describe that action: motoroling. As in: "XYZ Corp. motorolaed their numbers, reporting a small profit after excluding huge charges. The charges come from writing off investments that they thought would be needed (bad forecasting), but market conditions changed. Expect to see a lot of this.

Also, you may see quite a bit of "sunbeaming". Guess what the definition of that is?
