I agree - a blowout quarter is highly improbable. This is a takeover play only. If it does not have a significant rally tomorrow or friday, then my bet is that a quick buyout prior to the end of this quarter is unlikely. If it rallies to 14+, I will buy more. If it continues to fade, I will cut my losses and move on.

A buyout makes sense. It's a nice fit for Oracle or PeopleSoft, and the market cap is low enough that it is digestible by either. If I were Vantive I would act quickly to avoid the snowball effect of negative press, key departures, etc.

I have no solid information, but it just makes sense. Time will tell.

P.S. This may be a reach, but I notice they have not replaced the departing CFO....hmmmm, could it be that it won't be necessary. Not trying to fuel rumours....just trying to cover all the bases.
