Holding shares in other companies etc....

LU probably owns 15% share in Juniper Networks but not in
BAY or any other big networkers.

LU is a great equity to own short/long term. It is still
on path to realizing full potential of various patents,
technologies and products. NT, CSCO, ALA, ERIC, Siemens are
sharpening their strategies for a neck to neck run
towards big wins. NT has made a paradigm shifting move
in acquiring BAY and if the transition towards
integration is smooth then they will be a formidable
Data Networking player.

I would expect LU to sharpen Data strategy through
two fronts i.e. one like CSCO of acquire and pay
acquired employees handsomely and on the other
hand (like NN affiliate strategy) provide seed
capital to entrepreneurial employees and others.
On both fronts they have proven to be very
successful as Yurie, Prominet and other small
acquisitons and some recent venture capital
funding shows. LU already acts like a
big small company, nimble and rewarding
to employees (share value has been a boon
to options).
