CNBC just reported that VITESSE is going to report tomorrow and that its stock is at an all-time high in anticipation of better than expected quarterly profits. They noted that not all semi-conductor mfgs. are alike and that those in the TELECOMMUNICATIONS industry are doing well. Vitesse makes chips used in fiber optic communications.
I hope some of that differentiation is not lost on vlsi.

dan--

well, the decline in ASPs on cpu's did hurt, but if memory serves, they could have been profitable without all the anciliary pg's.

the thing that kills me is that R&D, which is importnat, is so high. cutting that to a more reasonable level would have helped substantially.

my point with the post is that when anyone says communications, it hits us even though we may not be feeling the same pain. sometimes the only reason for a selloff is the mention of a company in the same general group (say, semis<G>) saying that their business is not too good right now. i really hate that, but it does explain why we went down today.

good luck to all,
trey
